IF I AM RIDING AS A PASSENGER IN MY FRIEND’S VEHICLE, HOW AM I COVERED FOR INJURIES JUST IN CASE OF A WRECK?

It will first depend on whether who is at fault for the wreck. Let’s first assume another person is at fault for the wreck while your friend is driving:

You will be covered for injuries on the other other driver’s LIABILITY insurance policy.

  1. You will be covered for injuries on the other other driver’s LIABILITY insurance policy.
  2. If your friend has UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED MOTORIST coverage, your friend’s UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED MOTORIST insurance policy covers you for bodily injuries.
  3. If you have UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED MOTORIST coverage on your own car insurance, your own UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED MOTORIST insurance policy covers you for bodily injuries.

Let’s assume if your friend is at fault for the wreck:

  1. You will be covered for injuries on your friend’s LIABILITY insurance policy.
  2. If you have UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED MOTORIST coverage on your own car insurance, your own UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED MOTORIST insurance policy covers you for bodily injuries.

These insurance policies will cover you for your injuries while riding as a passenger in a vehicle. The thing to take into consideration is if the policy is active and valid. If the insurance policy is not active and valid, then there is no coverage at all. Unfortunately, you can’t control other people’s insurance policies; however, you can control your own. Please take the time to understand what your own insurance policy covers. If you have

  1. You will be covered for injuries on the car driver’s LIABILITY insurance policy.
  2. If you have UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED MOTORIST coverage on your own car insurance, your own UNINSURED/UNDERINSURED MOTORIST insurance policy covers you for bodily injuries.

WHAT IF I AM RIDING A BICYCLE AND STRUCK BY A CAR?
